The BRVM — the eight-country West African regional exchange headquartered in Abidjan — is structurally one of Africa's highest-yielding markets. Its listed banks and telecoms operate in a hard-pegged currency (the CFA franc, fixed to the euro), pay out large shares of earnings, and trade at modest multiples. The 2026 season delivered exactly that mix: Société Générale Côte d'Ivoire paid FCFA 1,875 per share at an 11.4% declaration yield, regional telecom champion Sonatel paid FCFA 1,500, and pan-African lender Ecobank Transnational (ETI) distributed FCFA 1.8 on its penny-priced share.
This tracker covers BRVM-listed companies with declared 2026 dividend events in our BRVM dividend calendar. Amounts are in CFA francs (FCFA/XOF) per share, gross before withholding tax.
Quick summary:
- 3 tracked dividends declared in 2026 — Société Générale CI and ETI paid in June; Sonatel's payment landed July 5.
- Société Générale CI led on yield (~11.4% at declaration); Sonatel's FCFA 1,500 was worth ~7.9%.
- The CFA franc's euro peg makes BRVM dividends unusual in Africa: no local-currency devaluation risk against the euro.
- Withholding on dividends is set nationally within the WAEMU zone — in Côte d'Ivoire, listed-company dividends benefit from a reduced rate (typically 10%, versus 15% standard).
- Coverage updates as declarations arrive — the BRVM's 45+ listings include serial payers (Coris, BOA banks, TotalEnergies CI, Palm CI) whose 2026 dates are confirmed progressively.

## Company Notes
Société Générale Côte d'Ivoire — FCFA 1,875. The Ivorian arm of the French banking group is one of the BRVM's most profitable listings, and its FY2025 distribution — ex May 22, paid June 18 — carried the season's standout declaration yield at ~11.4%. SGCI's dividend has grown with Ivorian credit demand through the country's sustained 6%+ GDP growth run, and the bank routinely distributes the majority of earnings.
Sonatel — FCFA 1,500. The Dakar-headquartered, Orange-controlled telecom group is the BRVM's largest listing and its bellwether dividend. The FY2025 final of FCFA 1,500 per share (ex June 10, paid July 5) yielded ~7.9% at declaration. Sonatel operates across Senegal, Mali, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau and Sierra Leone, with Orange Money a growing share of the cash machine funding the payout.
Ecobank Transnational — FCFA 1.8. ETI's per-share figure looks tiny because the share itself trades in the low double digits of FCFA — the ~7.2% declaration yield is what matters. The FY2025 payment (ex May 15, paid June 12) continues the group's return to regular distributions as profitability across its 30+ country network has recovered.
## What Stood Out This Season
Banking yields remain the BRVM's calling card. Regional coverage of the 2026 season (Sikafinance's dividend rankings, among others) shows the banking sector dominating the BRVM yield table again — SGCI's ~11.4% is emblematic of a market where double-digit bank yields are normal, not exceptional.
Currency stability changes the calculus. A ~8–11% yield in cedis or naira embeds devaluation risk; a ~8–11% yield in CFA francs — pegged to the euro since 1999 — does not, at least not against the euro. For euro-based investors, the BRVM is arguably the continent's cleanest pure-income market.
Sonatel stretches the season into July. With its July 5 payment, Sonatel closed out the tracked season a month after the Abidjan banks — a reminder that the BRVM's multi-country AGM calendar spreads detachment dates from April through July.
## How BRVM Dividend Taxes Work
The BRVM spans eight WAEMU member states, and dividend taxation is set nationally — the IRVM (tax on income from securities) varies by country of the issuer. In Côte d'Ivoire, dividends from listed companies benefit from a reduced IRVM rate — typically 10%, versus 15% for unlisted companies. Senegal (relevant for Sonatel) applies its own withholding of around 10%. The tax is deducted at source; cross-border investors within WAEMU generally face no additional friction, one advantage of the integrated regional market.
